私たちは「TV」という「顔」を強調するメディアを通して、「タレント」のイメージを観ているが、それは実際の本人とはほとんど別の存在の虚像として、社会のサイクルの中で絶えず消費されているように思った。
 
そんな「TV」の画面の隅や端に小さく晒される「ワイプ」のタレントの顔。何かを観ている姿を観られている顔。期待される振る舞いを期待されている顔。
 
それは「タレント」としての虚像と「本人」との空間を、曖昧に、虚ろにさまよっているように見えた。
膨大な視線に晒される巨大なメディアに漂流する彼らの「肖像」を、拡大してスローモーションで流した。
 
 

We view the image of a "talent" through the medium of television, which emphasizes the "face."
But I felt that what we see is a virtual image, almost a separate existence from the actual person, endlessly consumed within the cycles of society.
 
The small face of a TV personality is exposed in the corner of the screen, in what is called the "wipe."
A face being watched while watching something.
A face expected to display an expected reaction.
It seemed to me that this face drifted vaguely and ambiguously between the virtual image of the "talent" and the "real" person.
 
I took these "portraits" of people adrift in the massive media that subjects them to countless gazes, and played them enlarged, in slow motion.
