「あなたの作品は個人的すぎてよくわからなかった」そんなことを言われることもたまにあって、それは作者の責任にしても、例えばSNSや作品で僕も誰かも個人のイメージを“SHARE”するけれど、それを眺めていても、本当に一体何をどこまでSHAREできているのか、呆然とそれを眺めてしまうような気分のときがある。
 
見知らぬわたしの写真のポスターが、それでもあなたの壁に辿り着くなら、わたしの写真がその壁に触れて重なる瞬間を想像する。
どちらかの写真が見えるとき、どちらかの写真はあなたの壁に触れている。
 
「私はあなたと何を分かち合えるのだろう？」

The following is an excerpt from a note I wrote at the time:
 
“Your work is too personal. I couldn’t relate to it.”
Sometimes people say that. Even if that may be the artist’s responsibility, I, like anyone else, “share” personal images on social media or through my work. But when I look at those images, mine or others’, I sometimes find myself staring blankly, wondering what, if anything, we are truly sharing.
 
Still, if a poster of my unfamiliar photograph somehow ends up on your wall, I imagine the moment when my image touches and overlaps with that surface.
When one side of the photo is visible, the other is touching your wall.
 
What is it that I can truly share with you?
